This Privacy Policy explains how ScentID LLC ("ScentID," "we," "us") handles information when you use the ScentID mobile application (the "App") and the website scentidapp.com. We designed ScentID to collect as little data as possible.
ScentID does not require an account to use its features. You can use every part of the App as a guest.
Fragrance identification runs entirely on your device. The App compares the scent profile you describe against a catalog that ships inside the App itself, so identification works without an internet connection and your scent inputs are never transmitted, stored on our servers, or used to train any model.
We rely on the following third parties, each governed by its own privacy policy:
ScentID displays third-party advertisements served by Google AdMob. Ad networks may use non-personal device identifiers (such as the advertising ID) to serve and measure ads in accordance with their own privacy policies. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings.
Where required by law (including in the EEA and UK), we ask for your consent before showing personalized ads. You can change that choice at any time from Profile → Ad privacy settings in the App. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
ScentID participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you tap "Buy on Amazon" you are taken to Amazon, whose own privacy policy applies. We may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. We do not receive any personal information about your Amazon purchases.
We do not hold any scan or scent data on our servers. Locally stored data (history, saved items) remains on your device until you delete it.
If you created an account, you can delete it at any time from Profile → Delete Account in the App, which permanently removes your account record and the email and name linked to it. You may also email privacy@scentidapp.com or visit scentidapp.com/delete-account to request deletion, which we complete within 30 days.
ScentID is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Account requests between the App and our authentication provider are transmitted over HTTPS. Because identification happens on your device, your scent inputs are never transmitted at all. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the minimal data we handle.
Depending on where you live (including under CCPA for California residents and GDPR for EU residents), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we hold almost no personal data, most requests can be satisfied by deleting your account in the App and clearing its local data. For anything else, email privacy@scentidapp.com.
We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
